Dean's turn [ Wednesday, January 25th 2012]
1) Detailed sorting I don't think he was hard to place. He had elements of Hufflepuff in there too, particularly with the loyalty angle, but he's mainly Gryffindor. Incidentally, his dad was a Slytherin and I suspect he has more of that side than he lets show.
2) Enneagram typing (this is frequently one of the first things I figure out about the characters before I play them).
I don't think I did work this out actually, but I think he's a 9, the peacemaker. He's too laidback to be anything else. I think he has a 1-wing, the perfectionist, mainly exhibited in his behaviour with Ginny (though he swears he never pushed her through the portrait hole!)
3) Why you picked up this character.
He always seems to be a most wanted and no-one seems to want to play him. I love the background JKR wrote him and I did a bio for his dad once in preparation for a game that never got off the ground. So I figured I'd build on that and give him a shot.
4) Why you like playing this character.
Most of my characters seem to be messed up. Dean isn't. This makes him quite a relief to play sometimes! It also makes his presence in my head bizarre. Everyone else looks at him funny
5) The most interesting thing about this character.
Like I said, I love his history. I love that he never felt any loss over his dad because he had a good stepdad. And I always found it interesting that he and Seamus could disagree so fundamentally on Harry and still be best friends. That's a really strong friendship. p.s. someone pick up Seamus.
6) Who you ship with this character.
In canon, I'm a Dean/Parvati shipper. In May 02 it was Lisa. Probably too early to say in Absolution. I think he matches well because he's easy to get along with.
7) Would you take this character to another game?
Sure. It's funny the two games I've played him in have been the same premise, pretty much. Same year, anyway, and canon.
8) What would you tell this character if you met them?
I think actually Dean should be giving me advice.

Admittedly, there were more productive ways to spend my day, but I've been meaning to do one for ages.

[ Monday, January 23rd 2012]
In a weird place at the moment and it's skewing my relationship with rp. I am aware I am being clingy/needy with y'all, so sorry about that and thank you for humouring me. Part of me feels like I need to go on hiatus and part of me wants to apply for every game in the world. I suspect I need to see friends. My wife is away and I am not really seeing people outside of a work context, so I think I am lonely and trying to live through my characters again. My job is generally very social (duh, social work), but there is a difference between that and having a social *life*, not least because I am attention-seeking right now, not attention-giving. What do you mean, fucked up teenager, you don't want to hear *my* problems? ;-)

Ah well. I will try and meet someone for dinner sometime. In the meantime, anyone want to thread? I will happily resurrect old characters if you can think of a scenario, or thread backstory with current characters if there's nothing current to do :-)

Absolution peeps [ Wednesday, January 18th 2012]
YOU GUYS NEED TO PLAY.

You know how it is when you have tons of RP to occupy yourself with, but the characters or the game that is loudest in your head is NOT HAVING PEOPLE POST IN IT.

Bastards.

Yes, I am looking at you, Absolution people. I have been obsessively refreshing my friends page all day. At the very least give me more ooc chat. Now. Here. Oh hey! Meme time! Do it or I'll set Romilda on you. I name it... the saying meme.

Pick one of my and one of your characters, do the thingie and I will do it back for the same set of characters. Makes sense? Well, whatever. Give it a shot. Or just give me the names and I will do it for mine. You can do none-absolution characters too.

1) What does your character want to say to my character?
2) What would your character never say to my character?
3) What would your character never say to my character, but totally should?
4) What does your character think is the coolest thing mine has ever said?
5) What does your character think is the stupidest thing mine has ever said?
6) What does your character say about mine behind their back?
7) What would your character say about mine at their wedding?
8) What would your character say about mine at their funeral?
9) In twenty years time, your character bumps into mine in a shop. What do they say?
10) In twenty years time, your character's kid wants to go out with my character's kid. What does your character say?

Meme with Evan [ Friday, December 16th 2011]
Oh, Evan. I have this song in my head right now.

1) Detailed sorting
Slytherin. He was not a difficult one to sort. He's as sneaky as he can be considering he's not very bright, and generally enjoys being a bastard. He has little to no Ravenclaw or Gryffindor (unless you count his 'bravery' in approaching girls!) but he does have a fair steak of Hufflepuff. He's very loyal and has a developed sense of fairness and justice, even if he chooses not to observe it himself.
2) Enneagram typing (this is frequently one of the first things I figure out about the characters before I play them).
Evan actually wasn't someone I knew his typing before I picked him up. I think he's a 6 though, the loyalist. He does love finding someone to follow and then clinging onto them (hello William!). He certainly doesn't have a 5 wing, the rationalist, but I guess he has his 7 wing, the flighty one - he doesn't seem to do very well at picking a girl and sticking to her. If only he could find a girl to follow. *ponders*
3) Why you picked up this character.
I wanted a boy, I wanted a Slytherin, I wanted a 5th year... and I thought it would be fun to have a little pervert running round the halls of Hogwarts and abusing his position in the IS.
4) Why you like playing this character.
He's very easy. Terribly lazy of me, but there you go! Just knowing that he is going to find some way to come on to every girl he sees makes looking through his eyes a simple - and fun! - task. Then when he is more complex than this, I'm pleasantly surprised and interested to know why.
5) The most interesting thing about this character.
Why he's a pervert. I don't think anyone just is something without there being some kind of reason for it. I think I based Evan's attitude to girls on a line in a Pulp song, actually, where he sang about he and this girl secretly spying on the girl's sister with boyfriends in her room. I figured Evan must have done the same with his brother and gotten (a) a little obsessed and (b) grown up with a skewed idea of girls and what they were "for."
6) Who you ship with this character.
Ahahahaha I do not wish him on anyone at the moment. Maybe one day he'll learn to respect women and then I can ship, but for now I just get to be amused.
7) Would you take this character to another game?
I could do. I think he'd work in a lot of settings, and not just Harry Potter.
8) What would you tell this character if you met them?
You see how you are with Emily and Bernie? That is called respect. Women should get that. Their defining feature is not boobs, okay?

Any more questions? Ask!

Quitting feinted [ Sunday, December 11th 2011]
I'm quitting Feinted, even though I've hardly started. I really do not have the time for a game that is so active. I can't keep up enough to get my teeth into it or into Hugo. Blergh. This makes me sad. Everyone seemed to be having such fun.

Someone want to thread with me or give me a meme or something to cheer me up? Any character, past or present.

Romilda meme and playing Hugo [ Friday, December 9th 2011]
After a week of not having more than, like, ten minutes at a time to RP, I finally managed to get a little hour-or-so to myself to jump in and play Hugo at [info]feinted. I am not sure about him atm. I feel like he's speaking to me, but I'm not 100% sure he's how I wrote his app, so I will have to watch that. Anyway. I have had to stop because I am tired, and when I am tired I can only rp with characters I know really well.

And of course, I am amused that Evan has finally received some come-uppance at [info]absolutionrpg :-D

In dribs and drabs I filled in my meme for Romilda so if you want to read it, do the clicky. )

Lucy Yaxley [ Saturday, November 26th 2011]
I made up a meme thing to do for my own characters. I am sad like that. Here we go for Lucy from Purgatory and Absolution, [info]purer.

1) Detailed sorting
Hufflepuff with a repressed but very very present Slytherin streak. Hufflepuff because she is just a sweetheart and honestly does believe in fairness and doing the right thing even if it hurts. Slytherin because she is ambitious in her own way and a bit of a user. She's showing a little more Gryffindor these days than she used to, in her facing up to reality, but she still has no discernible Ravenclaw whatsoever.
2) Enneagram typing (this is frequently one of the first things I figure out about the characters before I play them).
3 with a 2 wing. 3s are the attention seekers and 2s are the doormats. Lucy is in many ways a very typical three in that she is very outgoing and personable but a tad manipulative. She is also very success-driven, as she defines it and, like many female threes, she makes full use of her sexuality in getting what she wants. The two part comes out in her niceness, really, and wanting to do anything for anyone, and feeling bad if she can't.
3) Why you picked up this character.
I like to look at the most wanted and I like to look at characters with connections already in game, and Lucy at purgatory had plenty of those, with pre-existing relations and a stalker. I was also interested in the idea of a purist Hufflepuff.
4) Why you like playing this character.
I mainly like playing Lucy because I like the dichotomy where she is this really really nice person, but also very manipulative and with terrible beliefs. It's only really possible because of her lack of self-awareness, which is also fun to play. I like how she's not very bright but really tries. I enjoy playing someone who is so into her image and struggling with it. I like how girly she is. I like that she is very fixed on keeping the rules, unless breaking them is funny. She loooooooves people who can make her laugh.
5) The most interesting thing about this character.
How she ended up like she is. I think it's funny that in trying to keep his daughter's innocence intact, Yaxley made a Hufflepuff. Burrrrrn on Yaxley. And now she's besmirching your dead name, selling your house, and muddying the bloodlines. That's what happens, dumbass.
6) Who you ship with this character.
Emrys, obviously.
Declan - I'd apologise, Patricia, but I blame you because of the picspam.
William - in another setting they could work. Just right now she is trying too hard to distance herself from the IS, and she is pretty sad and needs someone funny to cheer her up.
Rhys - tada! Someone to cheer her up. Although, how well she'd deal with him in a relationship I don't know. He is not doting enough.
Jamie - he's so cute and funny and sweet and muggle born. Ticks all the boxes. I'd worry she might end up hurting him in her more manipulative moments, though.
7) Would you take this character to another game?
Sure, postwarts. I think she'd be quite boring to play in younger years as there wouldn't be the internal conflict.
8) What would you tell this character if you met them?
I think I'd get on quite well with Lucy, actually. I am really difficult to manipulate. I'd probably try and gently point out to her when she was being a bitch in an attempt to make her more self aware.

Any more questions?

Just sent a bunch of Pottermore friends requests. I'm RiverPurple154, and if you forget whose CDJ this is, as I frequently do (not my own, other people's!) I'm Alison aka BritA.

Stupab, stupab, stupab [ Tuesday, August 2nd 2011]
So, Absolution started and everyone started playing after I could :-P Damn timezones.

By the way, regarding Romilda's dictaquill? There is method in my madness. I'm assuming dictaquills have a predictive element, like predictive text but... based on what the word sounds like. Mostly it works for Romilda, but because she's slurring a lot some of her words don't get picked up properly. When the dictaquill has no idea at all what she might be saying, it just puts in fake words, like stupab. Yesterday I sat there and tried a whole bunch of different methods to get my words slurring good - shoving different things in my mouth and trying to talk round them :-) Eventually I fixed on holding onto my tongue! So if you're wondering how I decide which words get written down? I am literally sitting here, holding tightly onto my tongue and trying to say what Romilda wants to. Then I write down what it sounded like I said. My poor wife, she is trying to watch TV! Also poor Romilda - the more annoyed she gets, the more she slurs. So then I just speak faster, still holding onto my tongue.

I realised yesterday... none of the characters I play in this game are really very happy.

Epitaph meme [ Saturday, July 30th 2011]
This meme looks awesome.

Give me a character of mine (past or present) and I will give you an IC quote/comment from them that would work as their epitaph. Feel free to request a character even if they've already been done.

Every time I go on my friends-page at CR, James laughs. He thinks he is soooo funny.

Also, Absolution is about to start. Anyone on my friendslist who doesn't already know about it, you should totally join. It's a post-battle-of-Hogwarts game set in school. It's going to rock. All the players are awesome.

Chamber of Secrets last night. James was out again, although he did leave room in my head for some of the others this time. I doubt he will tonight, though... Prisoner of Azkaban.

Harry - "I don't reckon my dad would have wanted his two best friends to become killers."
James - "Yes he would. He WOULD."

Also, I finished my Lucy app for Absolution and it lives here. I'm not sure whether to do epilogues for Purgatory or not. I was going to, but I am not feeling inspired.
