I've added a 'past games' table to my 'current games' table. It lives here! The only problem is there's a massive gap between the title 'past games' and the actual table. Why does it doooo that to meeeee? I suck at html.

I closed Cuckoo's nest yesterday, which was pretty depressing. Everyone is being really sweet, though, which I pretty much expected as they always were. *sigh* I think we'll keep up some PSLs in any case.
Today I've been jobhunting, which is my least favourite thing in the world, so now I am trapped in perpetual seesawing between 'but I am awesome why are people not falling over themselves to hire me' and 'I am so rubbish I do not deserve to livvvvvve'. It is a really bizarre quirk of mine that I am so career-driven that it interferes majorly with my self-esteem, because that does not seem to go with a lot of how I am at all... y'know, the hippy Buddhist creative end of things.
Anyway, bad couple of days so sorry not RPing much or answering memes. I think I've picked out most of the PBs for the children memes, which is the hard part for me, so will get on those soon.

So, with Pottermore opening to all, my sort-of-foster-daughter got to be sorted by JKR yesterday. She's Ravenclaw, which makes the full set (I'm Hufflepuff, my wife's Slytherin, my stepson's Gryffindor). This pleases me. We have toothbrush holders in our house colours and Hiba got the blue one by default, so it is nice to know she actually should have it.

New games are hard. So are new characters. I think next time I join a new game, unless it is an actual brand spanking new game to everyone, I will apply for or adapt an old character that I want to revisit rather than making a new one. That way I will only have one hard part at a time.
Incidentally, this little flurry of activity today and yesterday? My wife's out of town, and will be tomorrow too. Oh, marriage. I do get so excited to have time to myself. I made stir-fry and am listening to music and everything.
I'm also working (slowly) on revamping ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) cuckoosnest for a fresh relaunch. Part of this is I really want to pick up a character who could be the manager, so I can do some mod stuff in character. I can think of several characters from various fandoms who would make good managers of a psychiatric hospital, but none that I really want to and think I could play. Maybe I should just do a shortlist and whittle it down. Hmm.
ETA: This took me almost two hours. And is not even for Cuckoo's Nest. I have the urge to go to bed now.

Three days left to finish my dissertation... not going well. Would help if wife and I weren't both sick. 7400/15000 words so far, still reading, and what I have written isn't in a coherent order yet. I know I'm the queen of pulling essays off last minute, but this may be excessive. May be absent from games for a few days. Or may use as a procrastination tool. Difficult to say.

So. Playing with yourself. No, not in the Romilda understanding of the word. Thoughts? Do you do it? Do you avoid it? Do you hate seeing other people do it?
My thing is that generally I avoid it, because playing with other people is more fun than playing with myself. (That said, I do it all the time at cr_mod because Danielle likes reading it, so I do get feedback.) Generally I don't care if other people do it or not, although if someone is already annoying me, it's a double whammy of annoyance! There have been a couple of times where I have done it at cuckoosnest, generally when Juliet (a doctor) asks a question of the patients as a whole, and a few times at absolution too, generally when one of my girls insists on putting Evan straight. Sometimes it feels like it would be unrealistic not to have my characters interact. Like... Evan has decided he hates Lucy, because of what she did to William. Mainly it is a silent hate, but occasionally it does come up. So... what to do?

1) Detailed sorting
Slytherin. I spent a fair bit of his app explaining why he wasn't a Hufflepuff, though. He's probably got more Puff than Gryff or Raven, or at least, he did have. There's not much of that left now.
2) Enneagram typing (this is frequently one of the first things I figure out about the characters before I play them). Alex is a 4. It is always highly amusing to me when I play or write fours, because I am one. Fours are the moody ones, the romantics, the self-absorbed, the tortured artist... Alex is a lot more selfish than I am though! Maybe he'll grow the fuck up one day. I think Alex's wing is mainly 3 - in his focus on image even though it's counter-cultural, and his need for attention even though it's negative.
3) Why you picked up this character.
Bad boy love! We need bad boys. Unfortunately, our scarcity in them makes it harder to play Alex. I quite fancied the idea of someone whose childhood wasn't fucked up but ended up a pillock anyway. Lots of teenagers are, alas.
4) Why you like playing this character.
Being an ass is fun. Also fun is occasionally not being an ass and watching people be real suspicious.
5) The most interesting thing about this character.
It amuses me that I originally thought he would pick on Luna but stick up for her as well for her weirdness - in practice I just can't make him be mean to Luna! He is about to beat up anyone who calls her loony. He hates everyone so much for being sheep that he just can't fault Luna even when she's clearly being crazy as hell.
6) Who you ship with this character.
Hmm. Not sure yet. Maybe Amrita. I think he used to fancy her when he was still a kid and still has vague feelings that way.
7) Would you take this character to another game?
Possibly one with more bad guys, or bad guys that don't hang out already with one of my other characters.
8) What would you tell this character if you met them?
Blergh. I think this one's more complicated than saying stuff. I think he needs some unconditional positive regard with a side order of snark.
